The department says the system is aimed at improving service delivery and financial controls.

The municipalities that will make use of the new system include Ugu District, Richmond, uMngeni, Nkandla, iMpendle, uMfolozi and Ulundi.

The KZN Finance Department's Nkosikhona Duma says MEC Francois Rodgers will attend the official signing ceremony on Wednesday.

"The CMS aims to resolve a myriad of financial management challenges at local government level, including implementation of debt collection and credit control policies, overspending, management and utilisation of conditional grants.

"Accordingly, MEC Rodgers will this week convene a high-level gathering involving mayors, municipal managers, chief financial officers, and project champions."
