Natu approaches Minster over growing fears of school violence
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Violence in schools remains in the spotlight with the National Teachers Union saying it's written to the Basic Education Minister to intervene.
In KZN, several learners have been stabbed to death on school premises recently while in the North West - a teacher was killed - allegedly by a schoolboy.
NATU's Allen Thompson says not only are lives at risk but they fear the violence will drive good educators out.
"There are schools with 1500 learners who do not have a single security guard. We need those people in our schools, we need the relationship between the Minister of Police and the Minister of Basic Education to be more effective - when there are cases of violence in schools," Thompson said.
