National shutdown: Durban business chamber urges Ramaphosa to step in

The Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry says the country's business sector can't afford a national shutdown.
The EFF, joined by trade union federation SAFTU, has planned a protest on Monday over the electricity crisis.
The chamber's president Prasheen Maharaj says the country's economy is already in a precarious state.
He says President Cyril Ramaphosa must intervene and put a stop the shutdown.
"Law enforcement agencies need to take a zero-tolerance approach, provide a clear action and communication plan so businesses can prepare accordingly."

Earlier on Wednesday, EFF leader Julius Malema said there was no plan on how they'll go about the protest.
"There is no starting point and finishing point. If I happen to be at the Union Building, I will not have started anywhere. So protestors, wherever they are they, are just going to gather and protest.
"It is as simple as that. There is no transport or anything, the same way they protest in their communities. They are going to protest like that on that day. It's a protest, it's not a march."
Malema has also denied they have threatened violence on the day.
He says they've merely made business, the taxi industry and other services aware of their protest and that it's up to those stakeholders to decide what to do on Monday.
