The South African Weather Service has issued a severe snow warning for some parts of the province with possible road closures today.

Possible affected areas include the western parts of Sisonke, uMgungundlovu and uThukela. Heavy rain has also been predicted well into Tuesday.

The concession's Con Roux says they have been alerted to some some individuals who call themselves snow-chasers whose main purpose is to drive around to various areas where snow is expected all in the name of leisure.

"We have a high likelihood as the day goes on of roads being closed because of treacherous conditions and motorists being snowed in. In addition communication is often difficult because cellular phone signal disappears," he said.

"So we are very concerned and saying that if at all possible people should not go out and snow chase because they may become snowed in and that becomes problematic," Roux.
