Mr D Food, Takelot delivery drivers in Durban down tools
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
If you've been struggling to get food delivered by Mr D, or your Takelot delivery is delayed, that's because drivers in Durban are protesting.

Some who tried to place food orders on Monday received a message that no drivers were available.
The protest is over a pay hike.
The drivers switched off their engines this morning and demonstrated outside the SABC building in Durban.
One Mr D driver says it is a slap in the face of workers.
"It was upsetting because they told us over a month [ago] that on Thursday they were going to get back to us, but we said that we were only going to agree on R35. So we said even if they bring it down, but not under R30, we were prepared to meet them halfway, but come Thursday, they stall the whole thing again."

A Takealot driver says he started working in 2017 and had one increase from R22 to R25 per hour.
He says there is no communication.
"It's not easy the way how things are now. We need different things. When we talk to them they try to scare us like we can get fired and so on. Moreover, when we get employed we are partners."
Newswatch has reached out to Takealot for comment.
