Motshekga: Urgent attention needed for ICT in schools
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga, says the need for Information Communication Technology in schools across the country requires urgent attention.
While some pupils continued learning during ongoing disruptions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic last year, less fortunate schools struggled to keep up to speed.
Motshekga who was speaking during a 3-day Education Lekgotla said the department needs to rethink, reposition and re-imagine the curriculum delivery.
"Speakers have agreed that this is unavoidable and we agree that ICTs cannot replace teachers", she said.
"They [ICTs] are critical in augmenting the work done by teachers. Through purposeful and effectiveness collaboration we can clearly drive the reconfiguration of basic education", Motshekga.
