The Democratic Alliance, which asked for the motion, says over 800 000 South Africans have participated in their online call to send messages in support of the motion.

High up on the list of complaints that opposition parties will highlight is the about turn Zuma recently did in the Constitutional Court on his responsibility to obey a directive by Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, for him to repay a portion of the money spent upgrading his Nkandla home.

While Zuma’s concession has angered and divided the ANC caucus who pulled out all the stops to protect him from having to pay back the money, ruling party MPs will have to toe the party line and vote against the motion or lose their jobs.

This is why the DA wants the ballot at the end to be secret.
