More businesses close their doors as looting continues in KZN

More businesses in KwaZulu-Natal have closed their doors as the unrest sparked by the jailing of ex-president Jacob Zuma continues.

Health and beauty retail giant Dis-Chem has closed all its stores, vaccination sites and testing stations in KZN until further notice.
Management at the Pavilion Shopping Centre in Westville and the Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Umhlanga have also confirmed that they will not open on Monday over safety fears.
Durban metro police spokesperson Parbhoo Sewpersad says looting has been confirmed in the Durban CBD, KwaMashu, Tongaat, Berea and Springfield amongst others.
"The Durban Metropolitan Police Service with all the units have been working tirelessly. Last night we have attended to many arrests. Hundreds of people have been arrested, various shopping malls have been alight.
"Hardware stores have been looted China mall shops have been looted. Supermarkets have been looted. Throughout the night, they continued to loot. We have arrested hundreds of people and these suspects or people are being currently detained at various police stations."
