Missing Mariannhill teen found following tragic drowning

A search for a teenage girl who went missing from Mariannhill - outside Pinetown earlier this week has ended in tragedy.
The Durban police's Search and Rescue Unit pulled the 14-year-old girl's body from the Umlazi River.

KZN police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says she had gone to the river with friends after school on Tuesday.
"Yesterday, the body of a 14-year-old child was found floating around the Mariannhill area. Upon an initial investigation, it was discovered that the child was swimming with a friend and drowned. An inquest docket case was opened for investigation," Mbhele said.
