Minister heads to Vuwani, Limpopo as unrest continues
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Local Government Minister Des van Rooyen is making his way to Vuwani in Limpopo after community protests have led to more than a dozen schools torched.
Satellite police stations, tribal offices and municipal trucks were also set alight over the merging of Vuwani and Malamulele.
This as a governmental task team has been meeting with traditional leaders on neutral ground in Thohoyandou to try and find a solution to the violence that resumed after the community lost a High Court challenge over the demarcation of the area into another municipality.
Limpopo provincial spokesperson Phuti Seloba says the traditional leaders present were delegated by the Venda King Toni Mphephu-Ramabulana.
"We are consulting at a district level. After the district, we will go to the local chief. The chiefs that we see are those delegated by the king," he said.
