Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Department of Economic
Development in KZN says millions of rands will be needed for disaster recovery
in and around Margate after Sunday's devastating storm.

EC Siboniso Duma visited the area on Tuesday to assess the impact of the downpour.
Five people lost their lives, and businesses and infrastructure in the CBD were severely damaged when heavy rains and strong winds lashed the south coast.

Duma said he is also concerned about local tourism.
“We already started the process of engaging the Minister of Cooperative Governance, so we can repair this place. It’s a pity that it's the same thing that happened in 2022."
