Migration tops agenda as Home Affairs, KZN traditional leaders meet
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba is expected to meet with Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini and traditional leaders in Nongoma today to discuss ways of improving services.
The department says traditional leaders play an important role in their communities.
It wants to see how to better roll out a number of programmes that are dependent on communities having access to relevant information.
Spokesperson, Mayihlome Tshwete says these include compliance when it comes to registering newborns within 30 days of birth and encouraging people to switch to the new smart ID cards.

"This also includes issues of migration. It has been a matter that has been raised by a number of traditional leaders.
"The Minister wants to make sure that we have interactions and exchange of ideas of how communities can play their part in assisting us with managing migration. We are acknowledging that migration can be a positive contribution to our economy and society," he said.
