Mid-term budget speech: 5 things you need to know

Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene took to the National Assembly yesterday to deliver his medium term budget speech. Here are five key discussion points.
The country's economic growth has slowed, according to the Minister.
R63.9-billion has been added to the wage bill over the next three years.
R23-billion allocated to Eskom and R2-billion to the New Development Bank.
R4.8-billion for road upgrades and maintenance, R1.4-billion for public transport in provinces and about R1-billion for broadband infrastructure and digital migration.
In February, it was projected that the economy would grow by 2% this year but the Treasury now expects 1.5% growth for 2015. Here are five key issues the minister has addressed.
Education
Post-school education and training is allocated R63.7-billion of the revised budget and R11-billion in tertiary education capital projects.The minister has not taken into account the 6% feee increment for university entrance fees.
Health
The minister has allocated R30-billion on health facilities and equipment.Public service salaries

State-owned entities
