Metro Police officer among deceased in #DurbanShooting

It has now been established that a Metro Police officer is among the deceased following a shooting at a block of flats in the Durban city centre.

Police say the number of people killed in the Durban Central shooting has been revised down to three. Several other people have been treated on scene for gunshot wounds.
"Metro police received a call and responded to a multiple shooting incident in Teesav Building in Baker Street. We established that nine people were in the room and three of those have died. Five others were injured. One person escaped unharmed," said eThekwini Metro Police spokesperson, Parboo Sewpersad.

He says the motive is know yet clear.
"We believe that there was a commotion. Members of the public in the next room heard and informed us that there was a commotion. Immediately after, there were gunshots," said Sewpersad.
"I can confirm that one of the persons was an off-duty Metro Police member."
It is still unclear who the gunman was.
