Mchunu: Three persons of interest in Cwecwe case
Updated | By Andile Tsotetsi
Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says no foreign DNA was found on seven-year-old Eastern Cape girl Cwecwe.

Mchunu gave a media briefing on Friday in Pretoria.
"DNA testing was done on the victim as per procedure, and the outcome of those who were dealing with the matter was that no foreign DNA could be found on the victim, but in the course of time, there were three persons of interest who emerged.
"Now that then required further DNA testing to be done so that whatever information would be cleaned from the DNA testing on the persons of interest could help in the case."

The child, known as Cwecwe, was allegedly assaulted in October last year at Bergview College in Matatiele while waiting for transport to take her home.
The case has since sparked national outrage, leading to protests under the #JusticeForCwecwe movement.
Mchunu says the investigations are at a sensitive stage.
"Due to the sensitive nature of this case in particular, that is in point, we can't go on at this stage to disclose all the details because they will interfere with the investigations that are currently going on and are reaching what we consider to be a very sensitive stage, and we're hoping that very soon we'll get to conclude the whole matter - still complex as it is."
