Around one hundred drivers and taxi owners took to the streets on Tuesday over an array of issues.

They include e-hailing companies' pricing and commissions, the safety of drivers while on duty and the rising fuel prices.

March convener Sthembiso Khanyezi told the crowd outside City Hall they're not being heard.

"The presidency should compel the Minister of Transport (Fikile Mbalula) to engage with the e-hailing community. The minister has been unresponsive to the industry call to engage and has no appetite to resolve industry problems."

"The sector started engaging the department if transport since 2016 and has reached out to the minister including submissions of two memorandums, yet no response."

eThekwini Municipality official Mlungisi Ntombela accepted the memorandum.

"We are receiving this memorandum on behalf of all spheres of government, and his worship the mayor councillor Mxolisi Kaunda.

"We will then present the memorandum to the mayor. We will go through what needs to be done by us as eThekwini."
