MEC Mbali Frazer warns students against ‘pens down’ parties

The KZN Department of Education has urged matrics planning on celebrating the end of their school careers to do so responsibly.
It's warned of the dangers associated with get-togethers called pens down parties which it says often involves alcohol and reckless behaviour.

The department's Muzi Mahlambi says this is why they've launched a campaign to warn youngsters and their parents about these events including matric festivals.
Grade 12s sit for their final NSC exam on Wednesday.
Mahlambi says MEC Mbali Frazer's urged matrics to be cautious.
"She’s discouraged all the learners from participating in the pens down, rage parties because this parties they turn to be extremely dangerous to themselves."
