Matric pupils who lost IDs during floods allowed to sit for exams

The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal says matric pupils who lost their identity documents in the recent floods will not be excluded from writing their mid-year exams.
The department's Muzi Mahlambi says 36 850 pupils in KwaZulu-Natal are sitting for the papers.
"We are ready as the department in the province to conduct these examinations despite the recent floods that we've had."

"We have even said that learners who have lost everything in their homes including their ID documents will be allowed to sit for examinations as we have a schedule of all of registered learners. We will also be using the admission letters known as the timetable."
The mid-year exams, which kicked off on Monday morning, will continue until 23 June.
