The travel restrictions were lifted from Monday this week.

Fully jabbed South Africans travelling to Britain will no longer have to quarantine on arrival, if they produce proof of vaccination.

The Flight Centre Travel Group's General Manager of Supply, Sue Garrett, says there's been an increase in the number of tickets booked to the UK.

“Families that haven’t see each other for going onto two years now. And I think this has certainly caused a spike (in ticket sales).

“Obviously there has been a massive interest in the UK, but with the quarantine levels they had in place, which was a ten-day hotel quarantine at 2000 pounds prior to us being removed from the red list, you know, made that route far too expensive for a lot of people to that.

“As soon as that was removed, we saw a massive amount of people who bought tickets to travel.”
