Maskandi muso impersonator jailed
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
Sibusiso Gcabashe who impersonated a dead Maskandi musician has begun serving his 22 year prison sentence after being found guilty on several counts.

In 2012, Gcabashe pretended to be the late Khulekani Mgqumeni Khumalo who died in 2009.
He is reported to have convinced some of Khumalo's family and followers that the maskandi singer had been a victim of witchcraft but he had since come back.
After he was arrested for fraud and later, police linked him to other crimes, including the rape of a teenager, kidnapping and assault.
During one of his court appearances, he tried to escape from a courtroom but was recaptured before he could get out of the door.
The National Prosecuting Authority's Natasha Ramkisson-Kara says Gcabashe has also received a year in jail for attempting to escape from custody.
"The National Prosecuting Authority in KZN welcomes this sentence and the finalisation of this matter. We hope it that this kind of sentence will serve as a deterrent to would-be offenders," she said.
