Masemola seeking ‘uncompromised intervention’ on Mkhwanazi claims
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
National Police Commissioner, Fannie Masemola has broken his silence on damning allegations made by KZN's top cop Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

Masemola addressed members of the media on Wednesday morning in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, where a firearm destruction operation has been underway.
"The recent revelations of division and other serious allegations within our ranks have struck at the heart of the South African Police Service and, indeed, the heart of our nation's trust.
"Let me be unequivocal, the current state of affairs is unprecedented, concerning, unfortunate and requires uncompromised intervention to restore public trust and stability in the organisation."

Mkhwanazi alleges the SAPS has been infiltrated by criminal and political interference and has made serious allegations against Minister Senzo Mchunu and other high-ranking police officials.
Masemola acknowledged President Cyril Ramaphosa's commitment to investigate the claims.
"He will attend to this matter as soon as he arrives into the country. We are ready to brief the president and as such the national commissioner could not have down anything now."
