Masemola mum on alleged case files locked in Sibiya’s office
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
National police chief Fannie Masemola has remained mum on claims that dozens of dockets for politically motivated attacks are sitting locked in a top official's office.

KZN SAPS commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi told reporters on Sunday that over 100 case dockets under investigation were removed from the political killings task team and moved to the office of the Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, Shadrack Sibiya.
Mkhwanazi also accused Police Minister Senzo Mchunu of interference, alleging that he ordered the disbandment of the task team.

On Wednesday, Masemola was asked about the dockets in Vanderbijlpark in Gauteng, but he would not be drawn in.
" I think you have seen in the media, it is a to-and-fro. We'd rather leave that space. As the president said, he will intervene, let him intervene, and those will be matters that are subject to investigation."
Masemola said they will brief President Cyril Ramaphosa on the developments.
He also confirmed that Mkhwanazi's security had been beefed up.
