Marking of matric papers to conclude today

The Department of Education says the marking of matric papers in KwaZulu-Natal will be concluded today.

More than 170 000 matriculants wrote the National Senior Certificate exams in the province. Spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says they are hopeful for positive results ahead of the release.
"In terms of the time frames we have put for ourselves we have met all of them so we are very happy. Thus far we are happy with the processes of exams and the marks. We are very hopeful that the results will maintain that happiness we have," he said.
Meanwhile, education expert Kobus Maree is advising parents to monitor their children as results are set to be released on January 6.
"More than anything we should provide them with hope for the future. One failure is not the end. There are multiple opportunities awaiting. Listen to your child, watch how your child reacts and make absolutely certain that your child knows that you really care," he said.
