Man shot dead in Sydenham botched robbery

A man has been killed in an apparent attempted robbery in Sydenham in Durban.

The incident happened on Kenilworth Road around midday on Wednesday.
It's understood a pedestrian was the intended robbery target.
"Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the man in an open field who had sustained gunshot wounds to his chest. The man showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on the scene," says ALS Paramedics Garrith Jamieson.

"It is alleged that the patient had tried to rob a pedestrian when the man defended himself.
"SAPS were in attendance and will investigate the circumstances."
