Man killed in N2 crash, 7 injured in Durban

A man has been killed in a crash along the Watson Highway in the vicinity of the N2 freeway.
It's understood the bakkie the man had been travelling in collided with a taxi at around 6am today.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident however, what is known is the bakkie crashed into a street-pole after impact.
IPSS Medical Rescue's Paul Herbst says several other people are also receiving treatment.
"At the moment, the guys are busy stabilising two critical patients. IPSS Medical Rescue Advance Life Support are doing advance life interventions to stabilise the two patients before transporting them to hospital. There's an additional six patients that are also being transported," he said.
Meanwhile, authorities are also investigating the cause of a crash in Durban last night that left seven people hurt. Netcare911 say a taxi and a car crashed at the intersection of Sandile Thusi Road and Umgeni Road. One man suffered life threatening injuries, while six others were also hurt in the accident.
In another incident, emergency services responded to a crash at the intersection of Anton Lembede and Dorothy Nyembe ( the old Smith and Gardiner Streets) in the Durban CBD at around 5am today. Three people were seriously injured in the accident, while two teams of firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the two who were still trapped in the vehicle. They are being treated in hospital.
