Man drowns at Durban's Virginia Beach

A man - thought to be in his 50s - has drowned at Virginia beach, in Durban North. Emergency services say they were called to the scene at around 6-o'clock.
The KZN Emergency Medical Service's Robert Mckenzie says bystanders had tried to assist and resuscitate the man before medics reached the beach.

"When paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene - they found that the man has sadly already passed away and he was declared deceased at the scene. The exact circumstances resulting in the drowning are not known at this stage and the police are investigating further," he said.
Last week, a 25-year-old man who drowned while in a three-metre deep canal near Durban's Ushaka Marine World. A witness who tried to save the man said he didn't appear to be having difficulty at first glance. A Search and Rescue team recovered his body the next day.
