Man dies in Durban substation fire
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Investigations are underway into yesterday's deadly explosion at an electrical substation, located between Durban's North and South beaches.

Fire officials say a homeless man, who lived at the substation, died after he had suffered severe burns.
eThekwini Fire's Trevor Stevens says at this stage they believe a transformer exploded at the site on the corner of Sylvester Ntuli Road.

"There was not a lot of smoke but there was one transformer room alight. It wasn't that big a fire. We are 90% sure that it's an electrical fault. Unfortunately, there was a vagrant in that room at the time and that person is now deceased," Stevens said.
