Man arrested after Shallcross shooting incident
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
A man has been arrested in the Carrick Road area near Shallcross, south of Durban following a shooting incident there this morning.
Police say Malvern SAPS officers had been conducting crime prevention operations in an effort to curb hijackings in the area.
They noticed a suspicious looking vehicle and tried to stop it at about 5.45am.
Spokesperson Thulani Zwane says the four occupants of the car allegedly opened fire at police before crashing into two other vehicles on the road.
"Three suspects fled the scene on foot, the fourth suspect was then arrested. He will be charged for attempted murder as well as reckless and negligent driving.
"The other three suspects are still at large. It is suspected the recovered vehicle was used in other crimes in the area," he said.
