Man accused of Nosicelo Mtebeni murder abandons bail bid

A 25-year-old man accused of murdering a final-year Fort Hare University student will not be applying for bail.
Alutha Pasile made his first court appearance in East London on Monday.
He's alleged to have killed 23-year old Nosicelo Mtebeni and dismembered her body.
Some of Mtebeni's body parts were found stuffed in a suitcase at a street corner in the city's Quigney area on Thursday morning.
Police found the rest in black bags at Pasile's home when they arrested him.

His case has been postponed to the end of next month for further investigation.
A vigil will be held for Mtebeni at Fort Hare University on Wednesday.
The head of the institution's Psychology Department, Dr Rianna Oelofsen, has condemned the murder and has called on all students and staff to join the vigil.
