SA needs a government that will prosecute Zuma: Maimane
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak & Marius van der Walt
Democratic Alliance leader (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane says his party will pursue the charges ofcorruption against President Jacob Zuma even if the case drags on for another decade.
Maimane spoke to Jacaranda FM News in Johannesburg on a number of issues.
He said whatever happens subsequent to next month's motion of no confidence in President Zuma, South Africans need to go to the polls as soon as possible to choose a government that will prosecute him.
The DA will head to the Supreme Court of Appeal in September as part of its ongoing battle to ensure that President Zuma faces his day in court.
Maimane also believes the alleged amnesty deal, apparently put on the table by some in the ANC opposed to President Zuma for him to leave the Union Buildings, is merely another form of corruption.
"What that amnesty tells us, is that the ANC will put the ANC first, ahead of the constitution. If someone breaks the law, sells off our country, what amnesty can you put on the table?"
