Magaqa’s family still struggling eight years after death
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A KZN court has heard that the family of former ANC Youth
League secretary general Sindiso Magaqa are still psychologically dealing with
his death, eight years after his passing.

Magaqa was shot in July 2017 and died of injuries weeks later.
Sentencing proceedings began in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Monday for one of the four accused in the murder case.
Earlier in June, Sibusiso Ncengwa admitted to shooting the 35-year-old in a politically motivated attack.

He also pointed out the late uMzimkhulu mayor as being behind the hit.
In aggravation of sentence, Magaqa's brother, Lwazi Magaqa, revealed that his mother and his brother's daughters have suffered the most since the passing of their breadwinner.
"His mother is 71 years old and has never received counselling since 2017. She is diabetic, and she always cries when she watches the news and sees her son on television. I sometimes find it difficult to update her on the case process because she always cries, and this disturbs the children she stays with. Sindiso was a well-known person. When his mother sees boys who grew up with him, she remembers her son."
