Looming court appearance for suspected Chatsworth teen carjacker
An 18-year-old suspected of being behind a number of carjackings in Chatsworth, south of Durban, is expected to appear in court this week.
He was nabbed on Saturday after an incident in Welbedacht East.
An Uber driver said he'd been attacked by three men.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Thembeka Mbele says the driver was assaulted and his car stolen.
"Police officers were immediately notified by the victim and search was conducted in the area and its surrounding areas.
"While searching and with the community assistance, the team proceeded to Moorton which is in close proximity to where the crime was committed and the suspect was immediately arrested and the hijacked vehicle was recovered.
“The suspect was taken to Chatsworth Police Station for further processing. A search for two other suspects is continuing.”
