Level 4 warning as KZN braces for heavy rain

Residents in most parts of KwaZulu-Natal have been warned to brace themselves for heavy showers that could cause flooding.

Rain is expected across the province from Tuesday.
The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 4 for disruptive rainfall for all areas except for the north-east of KZN.
The alert will be in place for at least the next two days.
Spokesperson for the provincial Department of Cooperative Governance Senzo Mzila says all disaster management teams across the affected municipalities have been placed on high alert.

"The weather forecast indicates that persistent rainfall is expected over most parts of the province, potentially leading to difficult driving conditions, particularly on dirt roads, flooding of roads and settlements, damage to property and infrastructure and mud-based houses.
Motorists can also expect major disruption to traffic flow due to road closures and flooding.
The following are the affected areas: Abaqulusi, Alfred Duma Indaka, Alfred Duma - Ladysmith, Dannhauser, Dr N. Dlamini-Zuma -Underberg, eDumbe, eMadlangeni, Endumeni, Ethekwini, Greater Kokstad, Impendle, Ingwe, Inkosi Langalibalele Escourt, Inkosi Langalibalele Sobabili, KwaDukuza, Mandeni, Maphumulo, Mkhambathini, Mpofana Giants Castle, Mpofana Mooi River, Msinga, Mthonjaneni, Ndwedwe, Newcastle, Nkandla, Nquthu, Okhahlamba, Ray Nkonyeni, Richmond."
