Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Umlazi residents are raising a stink about their uncollected bags of rubbish, which have been piling up on their doorsteps for more than two weeks.
eThekwini says refuse collection in the area was suspended 15 days ago.
The City's Msawakhe Mayisela says a group of locals has been threatening workers.
He says some confronted personnel at their depot, demanding they be given the contract to do the work.

Mayisela says the municipality decided to resume waste collection services in Umlazi, not so long ago, after a similar problem.
"The leadership of the City has met and we have taken a stand that we are no longer going to allow this. The law must take its course.
He says those who are impeding government to discharge its responsibilities, they will have to face the full might of the law.
"So, that's where we are. We are anticipating to return the situation to normalcy this Friday."
