Ladysmith officials in self-isolation following virus scare

A local municipality in Ladysmith says it's taking the necessary precautions in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Two out of three Alfred Duma officials - who flew home from trips overseas - have tested negative for COVID-19, while the third person is still waiting for results. 

Around 20 other municipal officials have been told to self-isolate at home. 

The municipality's Siyabonga Maphalala says they've been adhering to infection control measures.

"They have been in contact with the three employees who were first sent for testing. We have managed to procure material which will be used to sterilised all municipal offices."

"There is already a plan in place for all essential services to be rendered by the relevant officials and such officials will be tested before they assume duty." 

He says service delivery won't be interrupted.
