The South African 'isichathamiya' band walked away with the award for the Best World Music Album for Shaka Zulu Revisited: 30th Anniversary Collection.

The record - a tribute to founder, Joseph Shabalala who retired in 2014 - is a rendition of their 1987 album, Shaka Zulu.

KZN Department of Arts and Culture's Mac Makhathini says there are great achievements lying ahead for the KZN musicians.ย

"We congratulate Ladysmith Black Mabazo for bringing home yet another Grammy Award. Although Ladysmith Black Mambazo is based in KZN, they represent the whole nation. And as the whole nation - we are happy about that."

"One can tell that Professor Shabalala had a vision and a goal. He groomed these young men from an early age. It's always encouragingย to see that a leader that has retired has still left people capable of taking the team forward. The legacy of Ladysmith Black Mambazo will continue for generations to come," he says.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo also received a nomination in the category - Best Children's Album - for Songs of Peace and Love - for Kids and Parents around the World.
