KZN woman arrested for kidnapping six-week-old baby
Updated | By Lucky Khanyile
The woman was apprehended earlier today in the Nkombose area after KZN police received a tip-off from the community.
It's understood the infant's mother had taken the child to a local clinic to get immunised.
A woman then apparently offered to help her with the child when it was crying.
When the mother went to go look for her sister the suspect disappeared with her baby.
Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says the child is now safe.
"A case of kidnapping has been opened at the KwaMsane police station for further investigation. The detectives started their investigation that lasted almost eighteen hours and the woman was arrested and the child was found," he said.
The suspect is due to appear at the KwaMsane Magistrate's Court on Monday.
