KZN Wildfires: Three firefighters killed

Three people have been killed in a wildfire between Howick and Boston under the uMgungundlovu District Municipality.

Paramedics say a major runaway veld fire has spread.

Midlands EMS spokesperson, Roland Robertson says the deceased are firefighters who deal with bushfires.
"Multiple fire fighters have been left critical and multiple dead. Midlands EMS are currently on scene with medical helicopters."
Meanhwile, climate change expect from UKZN says the drought during our last summer season has significantly increased the risk of wildfires in the province.
It's been a week of blazes with several runaway veld fires reported in the province.
KZN Disaster Management has confirmed that seven people have been killed and scores have lost their homes.
Expert,Tafadzwa Mabhaudhi says government needs to step up in ensuring proactive measures.
"Investment in communities or wild based fire early warning systems, which are needed to be able to detect fires before they spread and also training people at a community level to be first responders so that there is local capacity.
