Tourism KwaZulu-Natal CEO, Ndaba Khoza is advising those still looking for accommodation for their holiday on the coast to rather consider graded establishments.

"We deal with a lot of instances where people have paid deposits and when they arrive there, there's no accommodation or the house doesn't exist," he said.

Khoza has also urged visitors to be responsible with water -  as a number of municipalities continue implementing tight water restrictions.

"We really do urge people to behave and use water sparingly across wherever they are. Whether you're at home or on holiday.

"All of us, South Africans have a responsibility of conserving water and making sure that we don't do activities that lead to water wastage," he said.

Authorities say steps have also been taken to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during this festive season.
