This is one of the key findings of the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.

The global staffing company surveys 750 South African employers across various industries, to determine their hiring intentions per quarter.

Managing Director Lyndy van den Barselaar says for the first time, forecasting for KZN is a plus 8% outlook higher than that for other provinces.

She says KZN's status as the home of two of the largest and busiest ports is contributing to the positive outlook.

"The City of Durban has seen an increase in construction for business and residential purposes. It indicates an increase in investment into the area in terms of business and tourism.

"Together with that, there's obviously been an increase in imports as a result of the drought that we've been experiencing across the country and that's going to contribute to the positive outlook for the province for that first quarter," she said.
