KZN SOPA 2020: Opposition parties weigh in
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Some political parties say they walked out of the State of the Province Address disappointed yesterday.
They've accused the local government of empty promises - saying it's letting down the poor.
Premier Sihle Zikalala said his provincial government would conduct skills audits, turn around poor performing municipalities and work on youth development programmes.

The DA's Mbali Ntuli says these are promises from the past.
"We are disappointed that he mentioned that there would be lifestyle audits years ago and still nothing has happened. So we sit with municipalities that aren't working."
"There have been no completions of the promises he had made to the province before."
The EFF's Vusi Khoza says the Premier has failed poor, rural families.
"He didn't say anything about the development of the rural economy. He told us about industrialisation that is happening in special economic zones."
"But I am saying if you create industries in the special economic zones you are attracting people rural areas, and you create jobs in the cities - that's why you end up in slums in eThekwini."
