KZN to set aside R4bn for flood response
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
An amount of R4.2 billion has been set aside by the KZN provincial government to finance the province's response programme following the April floods that destroyed homes and infrastructure.

The funds came from National Treasury, while the remainder came from donors and provincial departments.
Finance MEC Bongi Sithole-Moloi says the money will go to the KZN Human Settlements Department, which will provide funding for damages that were caused by floods.

Sithole-Moloi says they are aware that Human Settlement is currently in the process of building houses for the victims, some of whom are still living in community halls.
She says Social Development will receive an additional fund of R48 million to provide support and protection for victims.
