KZN school meal crisis looms over unpaid suppliers
Updated | By Tsakane Mhlongo
The National School Nutrition Programme Service Providers Association has warned over a million pupils across KZN are at risk of going without food on Monday.

The association says a majority of suppliers haven't received payments for May.
A similar situation last month was blamed on glitches in the department's new financial system.
KZN Education says it's working around the clock to fix the latest problem.

The association's chairperson Lindani Matiwane says the payment delays have been going on for nearly to two years.
" It's month end and we're supposed to pay our creditors. We are supposed to pay our employees. We are supposed to go and buy stock and deliver at schools because Monday will be the new month.
"Which is a full month, and we can't be able to do so because we don't have funds and we have exhausted all the channels and avenues of getting credit."
