KZN Sasco wants university course fees regulated
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
SASCO in KZN wants the same academic course to be offered at the same cost - regardless of where students enrol in the country.
The students' union addressed reporters in Durban yesterday. SASCO's Mqondisi Duma says they're working to challenge institutions.
"When you go to the University of Pretoria, a degree that takes you four years will cost R400 000 for the entire course. At UKZN, the same qualification will cost R300 000. Those are the things that we are saying that we don't want to accept them and they must be corrected," Duma said.
Meanwhile, the union has criticised the media - saying it has blown its recent SRC losses at the province's universities out of proportion.
The EFF Student Command claimed stunning victories at the Durban University of Technology, University of Zululand, UKZN's Westville Campus and at Mangosuthu University of Technology.

Sasco in KZN says suggestions by the media that it suffered huge losses in the elections are misleading as the congress has lost only a few campuses out of about 100.
Sasco's Lusanda Zwane has however admitted to problems which have contributed to their losses.
