KZN Premier launches TB campaign in Richmond

KZN Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube says the rise in the number of TB patients in the province is worrying.

She attended the launch of the Zikhalakanjani Programme in Richmond on Friday.
The provincial government says it’s aimed at curbing TB, HIV/AIDS, and sexually transmitted Infections among young people.

Dube-Ncube is urging those who are already diagnosed with TB to take their medication throughout the prescribed period.
She’s also stressed the need for people to overcome the stigma associated with the infectious disease.
"TB can be contracted by anyone; even the late former president Nelson Mandela had it, as well as Archbishop Desmond Tutu. People should not be ashamed about having TB because it can be cured.
