KZN police tighten grip during school break

KZN Police say they’ll maintain a strong presence as holiday makers head to the province for the school break.

Police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo says operations are ongoing in crime hotspot areas.
She says nearly 11,000 suspects were arrested last month as part of efforts to clamp down on crime.
Ngcobo says contact crimes remain high with over 3-THOUSAND [3,278] suspects behind bars.

"1559 of them arrested for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and 187 for murder.
Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) arrested 207 suspects for rape and 19 suspects were arrested for sexual offences.
