Pavilion Mall in western Durban says all its internal measures are in place, with teams on hand to ensure customers enjoy their shopping experience.

It says they are also ready to deal with any issues or eventualities.

Acting General Manger Vicky Deppe says they also have generators to keep shoppers cool and the lights on during load shedding.

Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Umhlanga has seen a large increase in visitors over the past week.

This is according to marketing manager, Michelle Shelley.

She says the centre is anticipating more foot traffic as Christmas and New Year draw closer.

"From a security perspective, we’ve certainly increased our complement of officers during this busy time to cope with the volume of patrons that frequent the mall. We also have the support of the authorities, both metro police and SAPS, on site at Gateway."

Boardwalk Shopping Centre in Richards Bay has welcomed the post-COVID-19 return to normality.

General Manager Thilen Naidoo says not only has there been a surge in festive season shopping, but there's also been a phenomenal response from shoppers and retailers to the activities they've been hosting at the mall.

She says security has been tightened to improve safety.

"We are also fortunate host the SAPS mobile office annually during December. This in turn heightens security presence at the mall because their presence here also includes foot patrols in the centre."
