Sharing this status on Facebook, Andile Moshoeshoe said certain people should be necklaced as was done to some freedom fighters.

SANEF's Reggy Moalusi says it's unacceptable for any member of society especially a journalist to make such comments.

He says journalists should never forget the power of influence that they hold.

"It's unacceptable. Journalists must know that they live by ethics, rules and standards. Meaning, that they have a greater advantage of teaching their audiences that racism is not acceptable," he said.

Moshoeshoe has since apologised for the post - saying the comments he received made him realise the sentiments are not warranted or constructive to the country.

Moalusi has added that everyone should always consider their professional integrity.

" To some extent the public trust what comes out of journalists. Journalists are not absolved of the responsibility of being citizens of a country. SA has a constitution and if the consequences with regard to this incident are that someone goes to the Human Rights Commission and opens a case then let it be. At the end of the day, he is a citizen. Journalist or not, you must be responsible and aware when using social media," he said.
