KZN Health confident in newly appointed King Edward Hospital CEO
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
Health MEC, Sibongiseni Dhlomo believes the new CEO of King Edward Hospital VIII will hit the groundrunning when he takes the reins soon.
41-year-old, Dr. Thami Mayise begins his new job on the first of next month.
He's previously run strategic programmes focusing on HIV and AIDS and TB and has managed Prince Mshiyeni Memorial and RK Khan Hospitals.
King Edward's former CEO, Dr Mandla Mazizi retired recently.
Dlomo says Mayise is competent and has years of management experience.
"There are many challenges with King Edward Hospital but to take Dr Mayise, you are very confident he will be able to meet the challenges. We will not disappear but help navigate him through this leadership," Dhlomo said.
Critical sections of King Edward are still undergoing major repairs after that severe storm in October 2017.
