Officials believe the pair can assist in the case of the fatal shooting of Sergeant Ntombi Mbanjwa, who was gunned down at her home in Umzimkhulu in April 2024.

Sanele Mthembu, from Bulwer, was last seen running a tuck shop in the Dambuza area of Pietermaritzburg and Xolani Ngobese, also known as Xolani Ndlovu, was last seen in the Edendale area.

He previously lived at the Capital City Housing NPC flats and worked as an Uber driver.

Hawks’ spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says another officer, Sergeant Ntokozo Mngqithi, along with a second suspect, Bhungane Hadebe, are already in custody for the same case.

"At this stage, the motive is not yet discovered as we are going for a trial very soon. That's where everything will unfold," said Mhlongo.

"But the two gentlemen, we believe they can assist in this case. Anyone with information can contact the investigating officer, which is Warrant Officer Sipho Mnguni on 082 556 9559."
